Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these terms

Kompressor is a native macOS app published by HYPRARION ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing or using Kompressor, or by buying a license, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

These terms cover the app and the website at kompressor.hyprarion.com. We may post a separate Privacy Notice; where it exists, it forms part of this agreement.

2. The license we grant you

When you buy a license, we grant you a one-time, perpetual (lifetime) license to use Kompressor. There is no subscription. Your license covers a set number of Macs:

• Pro — US$2.99, one-time. Use on 1 Mac.
• Team — US$9.99, one-time. Use on up to 5 Macs.

You may use Kompressor for personal or business work — the license is the same either way. The license is granted to you and is non-transferable: you may not sell, sublicense, rent, lend or resell it, or pass your license key to someone else. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly allows and that right cannot be waived.

We retain all rights, title and intellectual property in Kompressor. These terms give you a license to use the software, not ownership of it.

3. The free tier

Kompressor is free to use for up to 10 images per day, forever. No email, no account and no card are required for the free tier. The free tier exists so you can fully try the app — every feature, on your own files — before deciding to buy. A paid license simply removes the daily limit.

4. Payments, refunds and immediate delivery

Licenses are sold as a direct download from kompressor.hyprarion.com, not through the Mac App Store. Prices are shown in US dollars and are one-time charges.

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds. We think this is fair, and here is why: the free tier (10 images a day, forever) lets you fully evaluate Kompressor on your own Macs before you pay, and the price is a small one-time amount. Because Kompressor is a direct download rather than an App Store purchase, there is no Apple refund process to fall back on, so please use the free tier first and buy only when you are sure.

By purchasing and downloading, you ask for and consent to immediate delivery of the digital content, and you acknowledge that delivery begins right away. None of the above limits any mandatory statutory consumer rights you may have where they legally apply; those rights are not affected by this policy.

5. License keys and fair use

If your license includes a key, keep it safe and treat it like a password — it is what unlocks your purchase. Please use your key only on the number of Macs your license allows (1 for Pro, up to 5 for Team). We may take reasonable steps to prevent abuse, such as keys that are shared publicly or used well beyond the licensed Mac count. Lost your key? Email support@hyprarion.com and we will help you recover it.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Kompressor is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will meet every requirement or produce a specific result on every file or every Mac.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HYPRARION will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Kompressor. Our total liability for any claim relating to Kompressor will not exceed the amount you actually paid us for your license (which, for the free tier, is zero).

About your files: Kompressor works locally on your Mac. It writes its output to ~/Documents/Kompressor/ with a -kompressor suffix and never modifies your original files. Even so, no software is perfect — please keep your own backups. We are not responsible for any lost or damaged data.

8. Updates and changes

We may release updates that add, change or remove features over time. We may also update these terms; when we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of Kompressor after that means you accept the updated terms. We are not obligated to provide any particular update, feature or level of ongoing support.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to the courts indicated below for any dispute — except where mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
